Google is Rolling Out the September Android Drop

The September Android Drop will bring five useful new features to supported versions of Android.

“The latest updates in the September Android Drop help you stay connected effortlessly,” Google vice president Erik Kay writes. “From keeping track of important items in Find Hub to reducing motion sickness during your ride, your device is designed to adapt to your life.”

Here’s what’s new.

Motion sickness reduction. A new Motion Assist feature in Android 17 adds a subtle bubble overlay on-screen when you’re in a moving vehicle to help reduce the effects of motion sickness.

Gemini and Find Hub integration. Soon, you’ll be able to ask Gemini to remember where you placed an important item, like your passport or a spare key, that can’t be protected with a tracker. Just say something like “Hey Google, remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in my bedroom drawer,” and optionally add a photo. This functionality is coming to Android 16 and newer in countries where both Gemini and Find Hub are supported.

Guided vision. This new feature is designed to help those with blindness and low-vision issues by letting you share your camera with Gemini Live so you can hear descriptions of what’s in front of you. It’s coming soon to those with Android 9+ in countries where Gemini is available.

Google Keep integration with Google Messages. Google Keep can now integrate with Messages so you can collaborate on directly in the messaging app.

Chat themes in Messages. Google Messages is also getting a new Chat themes feature that lets you customize each chat with its own background and colors. This feature is available now.
