Minecraft Dungeons II and Gears of War: E-Day Are Coming Soon to Game Pass

Microsoft is about to bring two big new first-party games to Game Pass members in the coming weeks, starting with Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29. While the new dungeon crawler will be multiplatform just like its predecessor, Gears of War: E-Day, which is coming to Game Pass on October 6, will be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC.

Gears of War: E-Day will be Microsoft’s last big game release of 2026 after Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved. This is also the first new mainline Gears title since the release of Gears 5 back in 2019, and it’s a prequel to the original game from 2006.

Microsoft publicly admitted that a PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day was in development, but it was ultimately canceled. This is part of the big “Xbox reset” led by Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox, who determined that the previous strategy of bringing Xbox games to all platforms wasn’t working.

The next wave of new Game Pass games will also include the open-world survival game Dune: Awakening. The metroidvania Well Dweller and the roguelike action RPG Kernel Hearts will also come to the service on day one for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members.
