Last year, Affinity combined three separate apps into a single, free super app for creators that, like Affinity Photo before it, has become a vital part of my daily workflow. But today, it’s even better, with Affinity announcing its biggest-ever update to the app.
“You’ve been telling us what you want,” Affinity’s Benjamin Viney writes. “More precision and control over your work, less time lost to repetitive production tasks, a deeper photography workflow, fewer barriers between Affinity and the rest of your creative workflow. Well, we’ve been busy. This release brings over 60 new features and improvements to Affinity, including some seriously long-awaited additions.”
Just some of the many updates include:
Blend Tool. The new Blend Tool lets you shape, inspect, and refine the parts of your work that other tools make needlessly difficult, in Affinity’s words.
Automation. Affinity now supports full scripting capabilities that work across its vector, pixel, and layout experiences. And for those that aren’t comfortable with scripting, there’s a new AI Connector for Claude that can automate workflows for you.
Photo editing updates. This update adds numerous new features and improvements that photographers have been requesting, like improved RAW editing, smarter image refinement and processing, new color, sharpening, and detail adjustments, a Scene Decomposition tool for flattening assets, and a lot more.
New AI tools. Affinity now has free AI-based Scene Decomposition, Mixed Light Correction, Motion Blur Reduction, Image to 3D, Generative Upscale, and SDR to HDR tools built-in. Canva AI Studio is available with a Canva premium plan.
There’s a lot more, but you can find the full list of updates in the release notes.
