Moving photos from old Pixel to new Android without losing timestamp info for Photos app

I used my older Pixel phone to create photos/videos that total 20GB which are stored locally (not synced from phone to cloud storage).

I’m interested in migrating from this older Pixel 6 to a newer phone (Pixel or some other Android phone).

Is it possible to transfer all local photos/videos which appear in my old phone’s Photo app (its gallery) to a new phone — but in a way that maintains original dates/times when viewed in the new phone’s Gallery app? I.e., they should all display in the new phone’s Photos app the same way that photos taken on the new phone would appear in its Photos app.

Has someone found success doing this by connecting phone to PC and copying all DCIM/Camera files from the old phone to the same folder in the new phone, or is there some other method for true transplantation?

P.S. Please don’t tell me to use cloud storage to back up / sync as I’m only doing things locally.
