Google Highlights Using Chrome as a Study Aid

With a new school year underway, Google is highlighting features in its Chrome web browser that will appeal to any learner.

“As you head back to class, staying organized and focused is key,” Google senior director Charmaine Dsilva writes. “Discover how Chrome can help you manage your coursework, minimize digital clutter, and tackle the new semester with confidence.”

Here are five (sometimes new) ways Google says that Chrome can help with getting the most out of learning:

• Gemini in Chrome can already help you learn about complex topics, answer questions about documents you’re reading, and visualize concepts for you, and Google is adding new capabilities to Chrome on desktop so it can work with podcasts and videos on sites other than YouTube.
• Gemini in Chrome can also generate interactive quizzes using the content in any tab so you can test your knowledge of a topic. This feature is rolling out in the U.S. and India in English now in Chrome for desktop and will expand to mobile and additional regions soon.
• While none of these are new, Chrome has features that can help you stay organized and work more efficiently. You can choose between vertical and horizontal tabs and use tab groups to organize projects logically either way. And you can use split view to put reference material on one side and notes or a document you’re drafting on the other.
• Chrome lets you start work on mobile or desktop and then continue it on the other device by maintaining the exact state of a tab when you send it. “This includes your scroll position and partially filled forms,” Dsilva notes. “So if you’re halfway through a 50-page paper on behavioral economics, you can send it to your phone and pick up exactly where you left off during your commute.”
• Chrome also helps you avoid distractions with a customizable immersive reader mode and a read-aloud tool that can narrate web pages. And on Android, Chrome read-aloud has an AI playback feature that generates a podcast-like conversation based on that page.
