The New Dimension in Minecraft Dungeons II is Coming to Minecraft Too

During its Minecraft Live event this weekend, Mojang revealed that the new Sift dimension–the first new dimension added to a Minecraft game in 14 years–in Minecraft Dungeons II is coming to Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition in 2027 too.

“Minecraft LIVE revealed that the newest Minecraft dimension isn’t just finding its home in Dungeons II, it’ll also be coming to Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition next year,” Mojang’s Sofia Dankis writes. “This will be the first new dimension in over 14 years [and it] joins the Overworld, the Nether and the End as our fourth dimension. During the broadcast, you got a glimpse into this dimension in Minecraft, and even one of the mobs that calls it home.”

Minecraft Dungeons II arrives Tuesday, September 29, 2026 and if you have a Game Pass subscription, it will be available day one on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming support, Xbox Play Anywhere compatibility, and cross-platform co-op and multiplayer capabilities. Like its predecessor, Dungeons II is more action-oriented than the standard Minecraft and has a more traditional single player storyline.

In Minecraft, dimensions are parallel worlds that offer a different visual look and feel to the primary dimension, called Overworld, while retaining the familiar Minecraft blocky-style graphics. The Sift is the fourth Minecraft dimension and it’s apparently the biggest yet with the most profound changes. Details are still light, but there are shifting tides, two new biomes–Singer’s Meadows and Carapace–unique new companion and threat mobs, and new physics, hazards, and other rules. And the version of the Sift that appears in Minecraft will differ in unstated ways.
