iOS 27.0.1 is Out to Fix Face ID and Photo Issues on iPhone 18 Pros

Apple has just released iOS 27.0.1, the first minor patch for the latest version of iOS to fix two issues affecting iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users (via 9to5Mac). The first one could cause the two new devices to “unexpectedly restart” when Face ID fails to authenticate.

Since Apple started shipping its new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max on September 18, many users reported on Reddit that their devices were sometimes restarting after Face ID had failed to authenticate them in apps. In many cases, Apple advised affected users to get a replacement unit. However, it looks like software was the culprit.

iOS 27.0.1 also addresses another issue that may cause iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max photos captured at 2x under certain lighting conditions at f/1.48 to display a color artifact. Lastly, the update also fixes a bug causing all iPhone models to become unresponsive when users simultaneously open Notification Center and Control Center.

As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple also released today macOS 27.0.1, macOS 26.7.1, and macOS 15.8.1, which are all security updates. Last week, Apple also released watchOS 27.0.1 to fix a random reboot bug on the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
