The ‘Ask YouTube’ conversational search experience that Google started rolling out to US users earlier this year is now available on the YouTube mobile app. The new feature lets YouTube users search for videos using natural language, and it’s now available on the web and YouTube’s apps for TV and mobile in the US.
“This reimagined, conversational search tool allows users to ask complex queries, refine with follow up questions, and receive results in an interactive format, whether they’re on the go or using voice commands from the couch,” the YouTube team explained in the announcement. “Ask YouTube on the watch page, which launched last year, is also expanding to help viewers connect even more deeply with the content and creators they love.”
In recent months, the YouTube team has been testing similar conversational search experiences for music listeners and content creators: YouTube Music has an “Ask Music” feature that can now create custom radio stations and control the music queue. The YouTube Studio creative portal also has an “Ask Studio” feature to help YouTube users get new video ideas, updates on their comment activity and channel performance, and more.
