We have been talking about a Lite version of the Pixel 3 for a little while now. Google is expected to introduce new, cheaper versions of the Pixel 3 to cater to the lower end of the market sometime this year, and we have already gotten an extensive look at the device before.

And it seems like the release of the new Lite line could be just around the corner. 9to5Google is reporting that eight new Made by Google products have just passed through the FCC, one of which includes the model number G020B, which was rumoured to be the model number for the regular Pixel 3 Lite. Google is planning to make an XL version of the device as well, so the 7 other models could include different storage/color variants.

Google has requested confidential till August 24, 2019, with the FCC, suggesting that the new Pixel 3 Lite line could launch shortly after. It was previously rumoured to go on sale after the company’s I/O developer conference, which is happening between May 7-9.

In terms of the device itself, we know that the new Pixel 3 Lite line will be a cheaper Pixel 3. The device is made out of plastic, includes a mid-tier Snapdragon processor 670 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a 12.2 MP rear camera, and a 2915 mAh battery. There are some other minor variations on the design, and the lack of the dual-camera system is noticeable as well. The device will, however, include a headphone jack, unlike the regular Pixel 3/XL.

Pricing of the new Pixel 3 Lite line is yet to be confirmed, but that will really be the key factor of the new Lite line’s success. The device doesn’t seem too premium, so it will have to be cheaper than something like the iPhone Xr or the Galaxy S10e.
