Microsoft this week issued a set of firmware updates for Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, all aimed at improving the reliability of the devices.
“We’ve released updated drivers and firmware for Surface Book and for Surface Pro 4 devices running Windows 10 Creators Update or above,” Microsoft’s Brandon Records writes. “These updates improve camera stability and device reliability.”

I had coincidentally updated a Surface Book on Wednesday night, which was the day these updates first appeared, and I noticed them in Windows Update. But I figured it would be next week before Microsoft got around to documenting them, so this was a nice surprise.
It is perhaps also notable that this is the first time Surface Book has received a firmware update since April. But Surface Pro 4 also received updates in July, August, and September.
The firmware updates look quite similar between the two devices (which are themselves quite similar from a components perspective). But here’s a rundown for each.
