Google Updates Smart Clock with Photos, Conversations

Google announced today that it has added new functionality to the Lenovo Smart Clock and, presumably, to future Smart Clocks.

“The Lenovo Smart Clock comes with the Google Assistant, so it can help you better manage your morning and evening routines,” Google’s Mert Topcu writes. “The Lenovo Smart Clock also works with most cameras that work with the Assistant, so you can always see on the device who is outside your front door when your hands are full.”

Now there are two more Assistant-powered features coming to the Smart Clock:

Photo album. As with a Smart Display, you will be able to use your Smart Clock as an animated digital photo album featuring pictures from your Google Photos account or featured photos provided by Google.

Continued Conversation. An new optional setting for Continued Conversation will let you have a natural back-and-forth conversation with the Assistant (English first to start with).

Google says these new features will roll out as part of an automatic update this week, and it notes that the Lenovo Smart Clock is now available for sale in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, France, Australia, and Japan, and will be coming soon to India and other countries.
