SiriusXM is Coming to Google Assistant

Starting next week, SiriusXM subscribers will be able to access their satellite radio-based content from any Google Assistant-capable smart device.

“Starting next week, you can stream SiriusXM’s extensive lineup of channels with the Google Assistant on your smart devices, like Nest Mini, Nest Hub, Android and iOS phones, and everywhere Assistant is available,” Google’s Will Hennessy writes. “With just your voice, you can pick from a wide selection of talk shows, commercial-free music, and sports stations from SiriusXM, which is great when your hands are full while getting ready for work or you’re cooking dinner with friends.”

If you’re not already a SiriusXM subscriber, eligible customers can get a free 3-month trial subscription with the purchase of any Google Nest speaker or display. And Google says that it will bring curated video content from SiriusXM to Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max later this year, providing access to exclusive in-studio performances, interviews, and more.

Google Assistant interaction with SiriusXM works as you might expect. You can say things like “Hey Google, play KGMZ,” “Hey Google, play 95.7,” “Hey Google, play NPR,” “Hey Google, turn on the radio,” and so on.

This is excellent news! I dropped XM from my car in favor of streaming from the app on my phone, but I currently cannot change the station without picking up my phone. Sounds like this change will fix that issue.
