Roku Introduces a $99 Smart Home Monitoring Kit

The Roku Home Monitoring System SE kit provides two entry sensors, a motion sensor, a wire-free keypad, and a hub with a built-in siren, and it can be used with or without a 24/7 professional monitoring service.

“Roku’s new home monitoring system provides peace of mind, while being easier than ever to set up, control, and monitor,” Roku vice president Mark Robins says. “We are proud to further extend Roku’s Smart Home lineup with affordable, simple ways to secure the safety of any home.”

Roku already offers various smart home equipment, including security cameras, video doorbells, lights, and plugs, so this is a logical extension of that. And it seems to be pretty complete. Setup doesn’t require any tools, there are Home, Away, and Off modes, and everything is customizable via a Roku Smart Home mobile app, by which users will be notified when sensors detect a door is opened or closed, or an alarm goes off. You can also arm or disarm the system with the system keypad while at home or using the mobile app.

The Roku Home Monitoring System SE kit was created in partnership with Wyze, and it can be expanded with additional entry sensors, motion sensors, and keypads. Those who wish to subscribe to 24/7 Noonlight monitoring will pay $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, and if you choose annual billing, you will get a 50 percent discount for the first year.

Roku customers with a Roku player or Roku TV can also get notifications, access the camera event history, and control the system via voice on their TV.

You can learn more on the Roku website. The Roku Home Monitoring System SE kit is now available for $99 from the Roku website and is coming to Walmart retail locations and online on May 15.
