Cortana Gets Microsoft To-Do Integration

Microsoft’s To-Do service is finally integrated with Cortana. The company announced the major new integration last night, allowing Windows 10 users to setup Cortana to work with To-Do.

The integration will essentially allow you to use Cortana to store your lists and reminders on To-Do instead of Cortana. You will be able to do things like ask Cortana to create a shopping list and sync it with To-Do. The same works for reminders.

The integration itself is a little weird right now, though. To get started, you can only use a Windows 10 PC running an Insider Preview build 18267 or newer. Once you have the integration setup, you can use it with Cortana on any other device — Android, iOS, Windows 10 PCs, or even Cortana-powered devices like the Harman Kardon Invoke. And since these lists and reminders are synced with To-Do, you can use the To-Do app anywhere to access your lists and reminders.

The feature itself is still in its early stages, so there are a couple of limitations. It’s only available to those in the US, UK, India, and Austrailia using English as their system language, and considering Cortana’s history, it’s probably safe to say the feature will take months, or even years before it makes it to other regions.

You can learn how to setup the integration here.

I'd love to see this integration with Alexa. The Alexa app is terrible for lists/reminders/to-dos and would much rather use To-Do.

The only options I see are to connect Alexa to Cortana, then build your list using Cortana or use the Wonder Do It skill. Which isn't made by Microsoft. I don't want to pass credentials to an unknown third party.

I don't need Cortana to sync anything, I need To-Do to sync with Outlook. On Mobile and desktop/web.

Cortana just needs to become the API for service integration. I should be able to tell my Google Home to add something to my to-do list and have my home settings specify my To-Do list app as MS To-Do….it can then connect with Cortana in the background and add the stuff.

I know they are saying that it needs Insider Preview build 18267 or newer, but both my wife and I have it working, and neither of us are currently running any insider builds.

I've always liked and preferred Cortana to the other assistants and I've found To-Do very useful. Having moved on to Google Assistant however, I my find myself using it and it's new features introduced today about putting lists and reminders on Google Keep.

The setup tells me it won't work with a personal account. I have office. I'm paying for it. Why is Microsoft discriminating against me?
