Xbox Gets a Subtle Change to Achievements Reporting

This week, Microsoft revealed a subtle but welcome change to the way that it reports how rare each in-game achievement really is.

According to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, Xbox will now report the rarity of each achievement—that is, the percentage of gamers that have unlocked each—using “decimal-level precision.” In other words, where Xbox might previously report that “16 percent of gamers unlocked this,” it will now more accurately report it as “16.38 percent of gamers unlocked this” (or whatever.)

You should be able to see this change now across platforms. Meaning on the Xbox One, of course, but also in the Xbox app on Windows 10, Android, and iOS. As you can see here, the Xbox app is correctly—or, more accurately—reporting the rarity of various achievements in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

Nothing earth-shattering, of course. But a nice touch.

Cool…. but, Steam and the Platstation both offer this already, so it's not a surprise that this finally made its way to XBox.

I enjoy this feature for one main reason: It is astonishing how many people do not finish a game! Being a completionist, I can't imagine starting a game and not finishing the story mode at least!

I love this feature. Lego Batman. No one gets half the achievements. I stumbled upon this feature too. I think its a really nice touch.
