ReCore Definitive Edition Hits Windows 10 and Xbox One

ReCore Definitive Edition is now available on both Windows 10 and Xbox One. It’s the first Xbox Game Pass game to ship on Windows 10.

ReCore Definitive Edition lets players experience the game’s mysterious and dynamic world with enhanced visuals (increased resolution and HDR), a brand-new adventure, ‘Eye of Obsidian’, and the long-awaited T8-NK Corebot (‘Tank’) who joins Joule, Mack, Seth, Duncan, and Violet as they explore new environments and dungeons while battling the deadly Obsidian Cult,” Microsoft’s Joseph Staten explains in a sentence that will mostly be gibberish to non-fans. “In addition, players will enjoy new weapon modes for Joule, new gear for all Corebots, more enemy types, and many other gameplay and performance enhancements.”

As its name suggests, ReCore Definitive Edition is a new edition of the game ReCore, which arrived last September as the very first Xbox Play Anywhere title. For this new edition, the game marks a second important milestone: ReCore Definitive Edition is the very first Xbox Game Pass game for Windows 10.

What this means is that Xbox gamers now have a new advantage over rival platforms: As part of the $9.99 Game Pass subscriptions, you can access games on both Xbox One and Windows 10. And because ReCore Definitive Edition is still an Xbox Play Anywhere title, that means you can cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10, pick up where you left off on either platform, and so on.

Nice!

ReCore Definitive Edition is available from the Windows Store (or Xbox Store).

UPDATE: Already own ReCore? Microsoft tells me you will get the “Eye of Obsidian” adventure, the T8-NK Corebot, and all the other enhancements, for free, as an online update.

Apt, just after your article about the growing number of subscription services we pay I learn there may soon be a reason for me to add another to the list. :)

So, because this is pushed out as an update instead of a new title (which more and more places are doing), those of us who purchased a great but incomplete game last year get all the fixes for free :D

I am stoked to start replaying this game tonight! Just hoping my GPU doesn't completely choke on it at 4k

Wake me up when they decide they actually want some sales and put it on Steam. Not touching windows store with a 10' pole.

In reply to PeteB:

The whole point was to make it cross-playable on Xbox and PC. I suspect it will never show up elsewhere, since it's published by Microsoft Studios.

Actually the whole DE is a free upgrade to the original game. My Xbox updated it automagically. 😀

The Definitive Edition dropped onto my X1 on Sunday night, ahead of the rerelease. Very nice update.

I assume by definitive edition they mean a version that was actually finished and not rushed out the door with half its content missing?
