Spotify Arrives on Xbox One

The only surprise was the release date, but Spotify is finally available on Xbox One.

“Starting today, Spotify is available on Xbox One in 34 markets around the world,” Spotify product director Mikael Ericsson explains. “The new integration means that millions of Xbox One gamers can now choose the perfect music from Spotify to provide a fresh gaming soundtrack every time.”

According to Ericsson, Xbox One users have been clamoring for a Spotify app, and they’ve finally complied. Spotify has been available on PlayStation 4 and, before that, the PS3, for years.

Spotify for Xbox One works with both free and paid Spotify accounts and a Gaming hub in the Xbox app provides a number of pre-curated gaming playlists that may be of interest to gamers. Also, Ericsson notes that you can also control playback on your Xbox wirelessly from the Spotify app on your phone, tablet or desktop using Spotify Connect.

Late to the game. But good stuff.

Note: Those 34 countries are unhelpfully listed as “AR, AU, AT, BE, BR, CA, CL, CO, CZ, DE, FI, FR, DK, GR, HK, HU, IE, IT, JP, MX, NL, NZ, NO, PL, PT, SG, SK, ES, SE, CH, TW, TR, UK, US.”
