“No Man’s Sky” Finally Comes to Xbox One

Almost two years after its initial release on PlayStation 4, the game No Man’s Sky is now available on Xbox One. The good news? It’s been enhanced for with 4K and HDR graphic on Xbox One X and supports Mixer game streaming.

“We’re launching No Man’s Sky on Xbox One,” Hello Games’ Sean Murray writes in a post to the Xbox Wire blog. “We’re excited to see what people do with multiplayer, unlimited base building, and the ability to command freighters in this near-infinite universe.”

No Man’s Sky is an ambitious game that lets the gamer explore a procedurally-generated universe with 18 trillion planets. Unfortunately, the game was initially marred by a lack of content—each of those planets was boringly similar—forcing Hello Games to continually update it throughout the ensuing two years.

The Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky benefits from all those updates, of course, and it ships alongside the latest update, called Next. Among its many improvements, Next brings a multiplayer mode to the game in which players can team up in groups and explore the universe together.

No Man’s Sky is $50 at the Microsoft Store. Note that it is not an Xbox Play Anywhere title.

Ah, the PS4 version of PUBG. Highly over hyped game that is getting better over time. At least the Xbox gets the fixed version. Maybe PS4 will get the fixed version of PUBG.

I have found with this edition (and its STUPIDLY high price tag) that the game has been now made over complicated.

The first 45 minutes to an hour on its original PS4 release was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute of it,but this new updated version just had me frustrated to hell and back, having to construct material converters and a whole heap of other frustrating-to-gather resources for gizmos where on PS4 it was more a race against time and your suit's resources.

I'm liking this NMS significantly LESS than the flawed and filled-with-lies the PS4 release. Its just way too complicated and the ridiculous 3rd person view completely wrecks any immersion I had (I can't find how to change it back to 1st person either).

For me the actual mechanics and gameplay are a HUGE step back, while the narrative, building and visuals are a big step forward.

In reply to zybch:

You can switch back to 1PV using the X button on PC. It brings up a little menu at the bottom, and the toggle is in one of the submenus

Haven't played the new patch yet, but I sunk many hours into the initial few releases. Don't care about 3PV, but interested in the new stuff.

EDIT : Had a chance to mess with the new patch. It's still fundamentally a chill out kind of game, but the new crafting is pretty neat. Think a bit more like Minecraft. The whole UX has improved, but at the expense of a bit more complexity. It is a better game than at launch, now is a good time to try it.

I am…surprised(?). I had no idea No Man's Sky wasnt out on XBox One (full disclosue: I am a PC Gamer and dont generally follow releases on consoles, unless Sony magically decides it is bringing Uncharted to the PC…). I would have thought a AAA title like this (regardless of what you think of it) would have been out on all major platforms already.
