Razer Launches Its Xbox One Keyboard and Mouse, Available for $249.99

Razer is officially launching its first ever Xbox One keyboard and mouse. The company has been teasing the new Xbox One keyboard and mouse for a while, and it’s finally available for pre-order today.

Razer’s new keyboard and mouse are the first wireless Xbox One keyboard and mouse, built in partnership with Microsoft. The product, called the Razer Turret for Xbox One, isn’t cheap at $249.99, but it is meant to offer a premium gaming experience on the couch.

The product features Xbox dynamic Lighting and Razer Chroma, which allows the lights on the mechanical keyboard and mouse to sync with your gameplay. There’s a dedicated Xbox button on the keyboard that takes you directly to the Xbox One dashboard as well. The keyboard and mouse are built to work for both Windows 10 and Xbox One devices.

Razer says the Razer Turrett for Xbox One offers a stable 2.4GHz wireless connection via single dongle, offering up to 40 hours of battery life on a single charge. That’s slightly misleading, though — if you use the Turrett with the lights on, you will get up to 11 hours of battery life on the keyboard and 30 hours with the mouse. With the lighting enabled, you will get 43 hours on the keyboard and 50 hours on the mouse.

At $249.99, the Razer Turrett for Xbox One is more expensive than an Xbox One S. And if that’s a justifiable price for a keyboard and mouse for you, you can pre-order one here. Ships 31st March, 2019. You also get a free $25 Xbox gift card with every pre-order.

I'm not sure if it's just the picture, but the keys look like they are very tall. Funny because it reminds me of the new strange keyboard I got with a refurbished PC with similarly tall keys.

In reply to skane2600:

The keys aren't actually all that tall, but they've gotten rid of the dustcover around the keyboard that would normally give the impression that the keys are more shallow.

Kind of guessing "with the lights on" and "With the lighting enabled" aren't exactly the opposite states you were looking for.

It's quite reasonably priced compared to what's currently in the market, there is only one wireless mechanical keyboard; the Logitech G613, which retails for £100. The corresponding mouse, G903 is also £100, so compared to the Logitech's offering, the new Razer Turret is quite competitive.

If the keyboard is as good as the wired keyboards, then it definitely is a non brainer for anyone that's looking for a wireless mechanical keyboard solution.

I have the G613 and it is awful, the key switches are stiff and the plastic build quality leaves much more to be desired. I am looking forward to this, mainly as a wireless PC keyboard <img draggable="false" class="emoji" alt="?" src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11/svg/1f61c.svg">

It's a shame, given that the original Turret is $150, that they were unable to stick with that price point. Honestly I'd been hoping this was going to come in at $120 or $130. I doubt they'll get many takers at costing as much as a console.

So, what’s the use case for the keyboard/mouse on the XBox? Is this a prelude to bringing more complex PC Games to the platform? I’ll admit, I’m not an avid gamer, but I haven’t found the need for either. So curious to know when I need this.

So many reasons not to waste the money on this– number of supported games being number 1. I am curious to see how Xbox plans to deal with the advantage that keyboard and mouse provide over controllers in multiplayer/PVP/Competitive Online gameplay. Separate servers maybe? Or maybe MS feels that people willing to pay that kind of money deserve the advantage… P2W hardware if that's the case.
