Instagram is tweaking the design for the Story creation experience on its mobile apps. The company is slightly changing things up to improve what has slowly grown to be a really cluttered interface with lots of different options to choose from.
Instagram’s camera UI can be accessed quickly from the main home page, but once you land on the interface, there’s a lot going on. You have different modes like Instagram Live, Boomerang, and then there are all the filters you have to choose from.

With this week’s update, Instagram is moving things around to make things less confusing. In addition to that, it’s adding a new Create mode for Stories where you can easily create things like polls, ask questions, share GIFs (which is also new). The feature also includes a new On This Day feature that’s very Facebook-like and allows you to share a moment from a particular day in the past years.

Instagram’s new Create mode and Story UI comes shortly after the launch of the native dark mode, and the removal of the Following tab, which highlights Instagram’s rapid growth in terms of features.
