Instagram Now Has a Dark Mode, and It’s Gorgeous

This is not a drill: Instagram finally has a built-in dark mode, and it’s nothing less than gorgeous. Facebook’s Instagram is the latest major social network to join the dark mode party, introducing a native dark mode for its app on both iOS and Android.

Instagram’s new dark mode is available to users on iOS 13 and Android 10. The dark mode introduces an all-black theme with shades of dark grey across the app, and the interface looks really beautiful. The pictures probably add to the aesthetics of the dark mode on Instagram, but I have to say this is one of the most well done dark themes I have seen in a while.

Instagram’s new dark mode follows your OS settings, so there isn’t any in-app setting to control the dark mode on the app. That means Instagram simply follows your OS settings, so if you’d like to view Instagram with the dark mode but want the light mode everywhere else on your phone, you’ll be out of luck. I wish more apps started implementing in-app settings for dark mode instead of simply following the OS settings.

Either way, Instagram’s dark mode is here. If you are an avid Instagrammer, you are going to love this. Maybe Facebook will get around to introducing a dark mode on WhatsApp and Facebook next.

I can't understand why it's necessary to have the new iOS or Android 10. It's not true,I have Android one ( upgraded to 9) and have developer mod activated, you can turn everything black there too. Instagram YouTube Google Play Line Messenger every Google app on my phone is Darkmood, outlook.. so there's no difference to Android 10 :)
