Hi all
Has anyone come across an issue with Windows where when you take a screenshot in any way (PrtSCn or Snip tool etc) the resulting captured image is not the same as the original on screen. The contrast is really white and bright making impossible to distinguish details on the captured image, Its really frustrating as I create a lot of help sheets for our staff.

Nope, never seen this issue.

First go to Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard, scroll-down to "Use the PrtScn button to open screen snipping" and if it's on, try turning it off, then reboot.

If you then find when you press Print Screen that the image is corrupt in any app you paste it into (e.g. Paint, WordPad, Microsoft Word) then I'd suggest one of the following:

(1) Update your graphics-card (video) driver

(2) You have some sort of DRM software running (e.g. a video playback app or movie streamer app) which prevents screenshots from being taken while it is running. Try opening Task Manager, go to the Details tab and do an "End task" on anything that looks like such an app. Take a test screenshot after each one you kill and see if it works, and hopefully you can isolate which app is blocking it

You can just use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots instead

To access it:

Just select the Start button, type snipping tool in the search box on the taskbar, and then select Snipping Tool from the list of results.

Let me know if this alternative works for you.

Regards,

Jerry
