Microsoft has released today the June 2022 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10. For Windows 11 users, this month’s patch (KB5014697) brings Windows Spotlight wallpapers to the desktop, as well as an improved Family Safety verification experience when child accounts send a request for additional screen time.
Starting with this update, Windows 11 users can now enjoy the same rotating section of Windows Spotlight wallpapers on their desktop, in addition to their lock screen. Windows Spotlight wallpapers can be enabled by going to Settings > Personalization > Background > Personalize your background, and then choosing Windows spotlight. Once enabled, new pictures will automatically appear as your desktop background.

Today’s KB5014699 patch for Windows 10 versions 21H2, 21H1, and 20H2 doesn’t include this new Windows Spotlight feature. However, this patch addresses an issue that was preventing Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Outlook from opening, and it also fixes a bug causing file copying to be slower. Microsoft also fixed several Remote Code Execution vulnerabilities on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and you can learn more details in our separate post on Petri.
Even though we’re now halfway through 2022, Microsoft has yet to reveal what to expect for Windows 10 version 22H2. Windows 11 version 22H2 is already available for testers in the Windows Insider Release Preview ring, but so far the Windows Insider team didn’t communicate about the next Windows 10 update. Microsoft announced last fall that Windows 10 would now switch to a yearly release schedule with future updates coming in the fall, and we hope we’ll learn more details soon.

I’ve installed the June update on my Windows 10 device, and had read that they were supposed to be changing the "iexplore.exe" executable to become a "stub" that will only launch Edge… yet when I’ve double-clicked it, I still get IE11 load-up. Will this actually happen at a later-date?
