Microsoft Now Sells Repair Parts for Xbox Controllers in the US

Microsoft has started selling official repair parts for Xbox controllers in the US. Xbox gamers can currently purchase replacement parts for Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers and Xbox Series X|S controllers, and Microsoft also published service guides and a video tutorial on YouTube (via The Verge).

Repair parts for Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers start at $23.99 for replacement buttons, but the price goes up to $59.99 for a replacement PCBA and motor assembly. For standard Xbox Series X|S controllers, prices go from $19.99 for a black or white top case to $34.99 for a replacement PCA and motor Assembly.

Brad Rossetti, Xbox Insider Program lead at Microsoft tweeted yesterday that Microsoft will be listening to feedback on this new initiative. Last month, Microsoft also started offering replacement components for its Surface devices, so it’s good to see the company extend that approach to Xbox controllers.

If you have some experience with Xbox controllers, you probably already had one of them suffer from stick drift or other issues in the past. Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers, which start at $129.99, also suffer from reliability issues. While Microsoft can repair all controllers still under guarantee for free, it’s nice to give people the ability to repair out-of-warranty controllers on their own.

In other Xbox controller-related news, Microsoft also unveiled a new Vapor Special Edition Controller today. The $69.99 controller is available for pre-order today, and it will unlock an exclusive Stormcloud Vapor dynamic background to use on Xbox Series X|S consoles.
