Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Supports Mouse and Keyboard Input

Xbox Cloud Gaming mouse and keyboard

Microsoft has started rolling out mouse and keyboard support for Xbox Cloud Gaming today after nearly two months of testing on select games. All Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now try playing a limited selection of cloud-enabled with a mouse and keyboard on the web, with support for the Xbox app on PC coming later this month.

As of today, mouse and keyboard support for cloud gaming is only available in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. The Xbox Cloud Gaming web app now displays badges on games where mouse and keyboard input is supported, and in these titles, players can switch between using a mouse and keyboard or a controller at any time.

Here’s the list of 26 cloud-enabled Xbox games that currently support mouse and keyboard input:

  • ARK Survival Evolved
  • Atomic Heart
  • Cities: Skylines – Mayor’s Edition
  • Cities: Skylines – Remastered
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Doom 64
  • Fortnite (browser only)
  • Gears Tactics
  • Grounded
  • Halo Infinite
  • High on Life
  • House Flipper
  • Inkulinati (Game Preview)
  • Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
  • Norco
  • Pentiment
  • Quake
  • Quake 2
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Slime Rancher 2
  • Sniper Elite 5
  • State of Decay 2
  • Terraria
  • The Sims 4
  • Valheim (Game Preview)
  • Zombie Army 4: Dead War

While Xbox consoles support mouse and keyboard input at the system level, it’s still up to developers to implement it in their games. It’s actually surprising to not see Age of Empires IV in this initial list as the game is already cloud-enabled and the Xbox version supports mouse and keyboard input.

The Xbox team also said today that the improved Compact Mode experience for the Xbox app on PC is now rolling out to a small pool of non-Insiders. The main new feature is a  “Jump back in” row that surfaces the most recently played games, and there’s also an easier way to access the Friends panel from the app’s left sidebar.
