Microsoft Edge 125 is Now Available with Workspaces Improvements

Microsoft has released Microsoft Edge 125 to the Stable channel, adding two updates to Workspaces and a new copy/paste experience for Purview users.

“Microsoft Edge Web Platform constantly evolves to improve user experience, security, and privacy,” the Microsoft Edge release notes explain. “Stable Channel updates will roll out progressively over one or more days.”

If you don’t want to wait, you can, of course, manually trigger the update by opening the Settings and more (“…”) menu in Edge and navigating to Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge.

Here’s what’s new.

Workspaces display update. Each Workspaces window will now use the workspace’s color as an outline on the window border, in addition to its use in the window’s title bar area and the Workspaces drop-down menu. But not immediately: This feature is being deployed as a CFR (Controlled Feature Release), so you will get it randomly over time.

Favorites Bar improved in Workspaces. To date, Workspaces windows display only the favorites associated with the workspace in the Favorites Bar. But now the Favorites Bar displays all the favorites associated with your profile, as it does in normal Edge windows. The workspace favorites are now available in a dedicated workspace folder in the Favorites Bar.

Purview cut/copy/paste improvements. Commercial customers using the Microsoft Purview data loss protection (DLP) solution will see a major improvement in the cut/copy/paste experience, with the dialog now auto-dismissing when a paste is successful. Microsoft notes that admins can use the “Paste to supported browsers” setting to configure the content that users can paste, both to specific websites and through supported browsers, and deploy it via a DLP policy.

Security fixes. As always, the latest Edge comes with various security fixes, but this update is particularly meaningful, as it includes a fix for an actively exploited vulnerability. (Microsoft provided this fix earlier to interim Edge 124 builds as well.)
