Google Quietly Releases Android 15 Beta 3.1

Android 15 Beta 3.1

While the first three Android 15 beta releases were widely publicized, there’s an interim release available now that arrived without any fanfare.

“Android 15 Beta 3.1 is a minor update to Android 15 Beta 3,” the Android Developer website explains. “All eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program will be offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 3.1.”

Android 15 Beta 3.1 arrived yesterday, July 1, and it includes no new features. But it does come with fixes to the following issues:

  • An issue with the lock screen that prompted the user to unlock the device, even when they were interacting with lock screen items that didn’t require an unlock.
  • An issue with biometric face authentication.
  • Various issues related to system stability, connectivity, and audio quality.

Google previously released Android 15 Beta 3 on June 18, marking Platform Stability ahead of the final release this August. Ahead of that, it released Android 15 Beta 1 on April 11 and Android 15 Beta 2 on May 15.

Google is hosting a big Pixel event on August 13, and some of the devices it’s expected to announce, like the Pixel 9 series phones and the Pixel Fold, will obviously ship with Android 15. The company is also reported to be adding a set of exclusive Google AI features to Pixel this year.
