HP Replaces Spectre x360 with Lunar Lake-Powered OmniBook Ultra Flip

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14

HP has been relatively quiet at IFA this week, but it did debut the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14, a convertible laptop powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 (“Lunar Lake”) chipset as a replacement for its vaunted Spectre x360.

“HP OmniBook Ultra Next Gen AI PCs deliver supercharged performance for creativity and entertainment, wherever inspiration leads you,” the firm explains of its revamped product lineup. “[With the] HP OmniBook Ultra you can work in laptop mode, play in reverse or tent mode, and create in tablet mode, and take it with you anywhere with all-day battery life.”

Physically, the OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 is nearly identical to its predecessor, the Spectre x360 14 I reviewed back in January, save for the new Atmospheric Blue and Eclipse Gray color choices and the new branding. But the real changes come under the hood: Where the Spectre was powered by inefficient Intel Core Ultra Series 1 processors, the OmniBook Ultra Flip utilizes the latest Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, which provide improved processor, graphics, and NPU performance while offering much better efficiency.

More specifically, it comes with an Intel Core Ultra 7 256V processor with integrated Arc graphics, 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD storage, and a 14-inch 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness with HDR content. There’s Windows Hello facial and fingerprint recognition, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and two Thunderbolt 4/USB4 Type C ports and one 10 Gbps USB Type-C port. The webcam is an impressive 9 MP of resolution, and there are quad speakers.

You can pre-order the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 now from HP.com for $1699. It’s expected to ship by the end of September.
