Windows 11 Insider Build 22631.4534 Brings Lots of Changes to Release Preview Testers

Microsoft has just dropped the Windows 11 Insider build 22631.4534 on the Release Preview channel. This one brings quite a lot of changes that the company has been testing across other channels in recent weeks. However, most of these changes will be rolling out gradually to Release Preview testers.

Here are the main new features and improvements included in the build 22631.4534:

Jump lists in Start Menu: Right-clicking apps that are pinned to the Start menu will now show jump lists for apps that support them.

System tray updates: The system tray area of the taskbar will now show a shortened date and time, and the notification bell icon may now disappear when setting the toggle for “Do not disturb” to on. These changes can be disabled in Settings.

Touchscreen gestures:  A new option to turn off the left or right screen edge touch gesture is available in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touch.

Mouse settings: Users can now turn off enhanced mouse pointer precision and change the direction in which the mouse scrolls in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse.

Dynamic Lighting Settings: This page is adding the Forward, Backward, Outward, and Inward direction options to the Wave effect, as well as the Forward direction option for the Gradient effect. The page will also display a placeholder message when no compatible devices with RGB lights are connected.

Task Manager: The Disconnect and Logoff dialogs now support dark mode and text scaling, and the Performance section of the app now shows the type for each disk.

Android sharing: After installing and configuring Phone Link, users will be able to share content to an Android device from the context menu in File Explorer and on the desktop.

This build also includes a fix for an issue causing some Bluetooth LE Audio devices to not stream audio. Additionally, users who replace their motherboard should no longer encounter issues when trying to activate Windows.

If you missed it yesterday, Microsoft also released the Windows 11 build 22749 on the Canary channel. It includes the same Narrator improvements that are also rolling out to non-Insiders with this month’s Patch Tuesday update.
