Microsoft Releases November 2024 Patch Tuesday Updates

Windows 11 version 24H2

Microsoft has just released the November 11 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 23H2/22H2. If the Home and Pro versions of Windows 11 version 22H2 reached end of service last month, this version of Windows 11 is still being supported for Enterprise and Education users.

The KB5046617 update for Windows 11 version 24H2 includes the following changes, and some of them will be rolling out gradually to users:

Copilot key settings: On PCs with a Copilot key, it’s now possible to configure this key to open a different app. This option is available in Settings > Personalization > Text input.

Notifications suggestions: Users can now stop the suggestions to turn off notifications from certain apps right from a notification or by going to Settings > System > Notifications.

Narrator improvements: A new Narrator shortcut will let users press the Narrator key + Ctrl + X to copy what Narrator last spoke to the clipboard. Narrator is also getting the ability to auto read the contents of an email message in the new Outlook for Windows app.

Windows Sandbox client preview: This new app introduces Runtime clipboard redirection, audio and video input control, and the sharing of folders with the host at runtime

With this update, Microsoft also fixed various issues affecting Alt+Tab switching, scanner detection, and inaccurate counts for the number of groups in Task Manager. However, the company is still working to fix a compatibility issue with Roblox on Windows on ARM devices.

For Windows 11 users still running the version 23H2 and 22H2 of the OS, today’s KB5046633 update also includes the new Copilot key settings and improvements for Narrator and notifications. This update also fixes an issue causing devices to use too much battery power while in Modern Standby mode.

Lastly, the KB5046613 update for Windows 10 versions 22H2 and 21H2 starts the roll out of a new account manager on the Start menu. Microsoft also fixed an issue causing some games to not run properly due to an incompatible third-party DRM component.
