Microsoft has just announced a new Developer_Direct livestream on January 23 that will put the spotlight on three upcoming games plus a surprise title. Doom: The Dark Ages, which is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year will get a full game reveal during the event.
South of Midnight, an upcoming Xbox-exclusive game developed by Compulsion Games – one of the six studios Microsoft acquired back in 2018 – will also appear at the event. The third game to be showcased at the event is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a new RPG developed by French Studio Sandfall Interactive.
It’s apparently becoming an annual tradition for the Xbox team to have these Developer_Direct events in January to showcase games coming later in the year. Last year, the show focused on Hellblade 2, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Circle of Light, and Avowed, though the latter has since been delayed to 2025.
“Presented by the game creators themselves, Developer_Direct offers an in-depth look at upcoming titles, how they’re being created, and who’s creating them,” the Xbox team explained. The announcement also teased a visit to “a surprise location to see another studio’s brand new game.”
Xbox’s Developer_Direct event will air on January 23 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on the official Xbox channels on YouTube and Twitch.
