Brave Search Gets Customized Search Rankings

Brave Search Rerank

Brave today announced a new feature for Brave Search called Rerank that allows users to customize search rankings by boosting or removing domains in search results.

“Rerank enables users to easily adjust search results according to their preferences, explicitly, while being in full control,” Brave vice president Arjaldo Karaj explains. “No opaque personalization is done by unknown algorithms, as Rerank puts users in charge of their search experience.”

Rerank is powered by the Brave Search feature Goggles, which filters search results and rankings. It’s only used when the user chooses to do so, and the feature of course upholds Brave’s privacy promises. It does not track users, and users can clear the changes from the search results at any time.

So what’s the point? According to Brave, Rerank makes Search more personal and relevant by allowing users to remove unwanted sites from search results. It uses the example of a professional interior designer searching for work-related topics: That person isn’t interested in content related to personal DIY projects and would simply want to omit them from the results.

Rerank also benefits the Answer with AI feature in Brave Search, as it will generate concise answers using a more curated set of results.

Brave Search and Rerank are free, and the latter is available now for all searches.
