Adobe today released a new version of its Firefly app that offers AI-based video generation in addition to images and vectors. The Firefly Video Model, now in public beta, is the first commercially safe and intellectual property friendly model of its kind, Adobe says. It’s available in Premiere Pro as well.
“Firefly is designed for creative professionals looking for unmatched creative control and IP-friendly tools that can be used safely and effectively in both ideation and production,” Adobe president David Wadhwani says. “We’ve been thrilled to hear from beta customers who’ve found it a game-changer for ideating concepts and producing stunning videos, and we can’t wait to see how the creative community uses it to bring their stories to the world.”
Adobe has been talking about Firefly video generation for almost two years. But it announced the Adobe Firefly Video Model back in October at the annual MAX conference, alongside over 100 other new features across the Creative Cloud. With today’s announcement, Adobe is also introducing two new Firefly offerings, Firefly Standard and Firefly Pro, that provide access to premium Firefly video and audio features for $9.99 and $29.99 per month, respectively, and with 2,000 and 7,000 generative credits per month, respectively.
The Adobe Firefly Video Model is available in the Firefly app and in Premiere Pro, and the video it generates can be used in production. Adobe says it can generate video clips from a text prompt or image, use camera angles to control shots, create professional-quality images from 3D sketches, craft atmospheric elements, and develop custom motion design elements. It supports 1080p resolution for now, but lower resolution and 4K models are coming soon.
