Opera One, Opera GX, and Opera for Android Get Aria Upgrades

Opera unleashed a wave of web browser updates this morning, with new versions of Opera One, Opera GX, and Opera for Android, all with new Aria AI features.

Here’s what’s new.

Opera One

Opera’s flagship desktop web browser is getting agentic AI tab management capabilities via a new feature called Tab Commands that was previously tested in Opera Developer via the company’s AI Feature Drops program.

“Tab Commands are a new way of interacting with your tabs in Opera One using our built-in browser AI, Aria.” Opera’s Santiago Benavides García explains. “Just tell Opera’s AI what to do using natural language–such as closing, grouping or pinning your tabs–and Aria will do it for you.”

To use Tab Commands, you type Ctrl + / to open the Opera command line and then type what you want. You can type things like “Close only my Wikipedia tabs,” “Group my tabs,” “Pin my tabs,” “Pin my YouTube tabs,” “Save my tabs,” on so on.

Opera says that all tab-related data remains on your device and is processed locally in the browser, ensuring your privacy and security.

Tab Commands are also available now in Opera Air and Opera GX, as are several other new features:

  • Writing Mode 2.0
  • Aria in browser tabs – Now, you can move an Aria conversation from the Opera side panel to a tab
  • Aria answers improvements – Aria now provides better answers for cooking and recipes, products and shopping, video games, and other popular categories

You can download Opera One from the Opera website.

Opera GX

Opera GX is Opera’s gaming-focused web browser, and it’s getting the same updates as Opera One noted above: Tab Commands, Writing Mode 2.0, Aria in browser tabs, and Aria answers improvements.

You can download Opera GX from the Opera website.

Opera for Android

Opera for Android version 88 is now available with a refreshed interface for Aria AI and an exclusive unlockable new app icon.

“We’re excited to announce the release of Opera for Android version 88, and with it comes a renewed Aria interface that makes your interactions with our built-in browser AI more interactive and visually appealing,” Mr. Garcia writes. “The enhanced Aria UI encourages you to get curious and creative while keeping you engaged with an aesthetically pleasing interface.”

The Aria makeover includes a new onboarding experience with a carousel of ever-changing recommendations of things you can ask the AI. The UI is also cleaner and airier, with a smoother color contrast between what you’re doing on-screen and the background.

And if you set Opera for Android as your default browser, you will unlock an exclusive new app icon.

You can download Opera for Android from the Google Play Store.
