Nvidia Launches Native GeForce Now App for Steam Deck

Nvidia GeForce Now Steam Deck app

Nvidia is launching today a new GeForce Now app for Valve’s Steam Deck, allowing owners of the gaming handheld to stream games from a PC rig with an RTX 4080 GPU. The native Steam Deck app was announced back at CES 2025 in January, where Nvidia also teased the upcoming availability of GeForce Now on the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets.

With GeForce Now, Stream Deck owners can stream supported games they own from Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, and the Xbox app on PC. Over 180 PC Game Pass titles are also supported on Nvidia’s GeForce Now.

“Gamers can stream titles on the Steam Deck at up to 4K 60 frames per second — connected to a TV — with HDR10, NVIDIA DLSS 4 and Reflex technologies on supported titles. Plus, members can run these games at settings and performance levels that aren’t possible natively on the Steam Deck,” Nvidia explained today.

While Nvidia GeForce Now offers a free ad-supported tier with a basic PC rig, users will experience longest queue times and a 1-hour limit on gameplay sessions. Streaming games with an RTX 4080 GPU requires a $19.99/month GeForce Now Ultimate membership, and there’s also a $9.99/month Performance tier offering 1440p gameplay without DLSS and HDR support.

According to Nvidia, Steam Deck users can “enjoy up to 50% longer battery life” when streaming games from GeForce Now with an RTX gaming rig. Nvidia’s still has the best cloud gaming service on the market as of today, and maybe the company launching a native GeForce Now app on the Steam Deck will push Microsoft to do the same with its Xbox Cloud Gaming service.
