Adobe Brings Firefly to Mobile

Adobe Firefly mobile app

Adobe today released a new Firefly app on Android and iPhone, allowing users to create images and videos whenever inspiration strikes.

“The new Firefly mobile app gives you the freedom to generate images and videos wherever you are, using the same technology underlying many of the most powerful features in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom,” the Adobe announcement explains. “You also have the choice of using AI models developed by Adobe’s partners, like Open AI and Google. You can use Firefly to create everything from b-roll to video backgrounds to hero images and put them in memes, blogs, presentations, posters, and anything that can use a little visual pizazz.”

The Firefly mobile app is designed as a complement to the full-featured creation apps one might use on Windows, Mac, or the web. As with Firefly capabilities elsewhere in the Adobe ecosystem, you can create images or videos using a text prompt. And as with Firefly elsewhere, the results are often spectacular. But they also require you to spend Firefly credits, which you get as part of a dedicated Firefly subscription or paid Creative Cloud plan.

The app also provides generative fill and generative expand capabilities and a gallery of images to use as starting points. You can edit images with visual intensity, composition, and style tools after the fact, switch between art and photo content types, and add text, shapes, and graphics. Or use them as a reference for a new composition. There’s also integration with Adobe Express so you can create social media posts or use the created content elsewhere.

You can download Adobe Firefly for Android from the Google Play Store. The iPhone version is available in the Apple App Store.
