Microsoft will soon reorganize the Xbox game library and move game trials and demos to a new “Free with Xbox” section. This has been a popular request from Xbox gamers who prefer not having their game library clogged with content they no longer use.
Microsoft is currently testing the change with Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead Ring. “Users will see a new section under the Full Library tab in My Games and Apps called “Free with Xbox.” Any previously obtained trials and demos will now appear here instead of under “Owned games,” the Xbox team explained in the release notes yesterday.
As of today, it’s possible to hide any Xbox games, trials, and demos from the Xbox game library, but the Xbox OS doesn’t exactly make it obvious. Hiding this content you may no longer need is also probably not as good as putting it in a dedicated section that’s easily accessible from the Xbox game library.
This “Free with Xbox” section will likely roll out to the public with the upcoming September update for Xbox consoles. The last Xbox feature update, which was released in June, brought more customization options for the Home dashboard, including the ability to hide system apps and pin favorites to the recently opened list.
