Xbox June Updates Adds More Ways to Customize the Home Screen

Xbox June Update home experience

The Xbox June Update, which will become available later today for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, will add more ways to customize the recently played games and apps list on the Home screen. Xbox owners will now be able to hide system apps to just keep games and apps, pin favorites so they always stay on the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed.

The recently played games and app list currently features nine tiles by default at the top of the Xbox Home screen, and this list mixes together games, entertainment apps, and system apps like Settings or Xbox Accessories. “This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback,” the Xbox team said today.

These new granular controls for the Home page are available under Settings > General > Personalization > Games & apps or go to My games & apps > Manage > Games & apps. However, pinning games and apps to the recently played list can be done by simply selecting a tile and pressing the Menu button to see the new Pin option.

The Xbox June Update also makes Xbox cloud saves more transparent for people playing across multiple devices. If a cloud save hasn’t been synced prior to the launch of a game, players will now see a new progress bar with device names, timestamps, and additional details to avoid accidental data loss.

Today, Microsoft is also adding mouse and keyboard support for more Xbox games, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Planet Coaster 2, and Smite 2. The cloud-enabled Avowed, Crypt Custodian, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Zenless Zone Zero are also getting support for touch controls today.

Lastly, the “Stream your own game” collection continues to grow and has now crossed over 200 games. The latest additions include Borderlands 2, Back 4 Blood, Final Fantasy XVI, NieR: Automata, Outer Wilds, Valheim, which can now be played via Xbox Cloud Gaming with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. 17 additional games will be joining the list soon, including Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Darkest Dungeon II, Payday 3, Remnant: From the Ashes, and XCOM 2.
