Microsoft is bringing the consumer version of its Copilot assistant to the 2025 lineup of Samsung Smart TVs and monitors. On these devices, Copilot will be able to help users find things to watch, answer questions about entertainment content, and also provide everyday help.

“Copilot on Samsung TVs and monitors brings AI out of your pocket and into the heart of your home,” said David Washington, Partner General Manager, Microsoft AI. “It’s there when you and your family want to discover something to watch together, get answers to your questions, plan your weekend, or simply hang out.”

Copilot on Samsung TV and monitors will also take the form of the animated blob Microsoft previously introduced for select users in the US, UK, and Canada. “Copilot’s appearance is a friendly, animated presence on your TV that reacts and lip-syncs as it speaks, with expressions that match the tone of the conversation,” the company explained. When answering questions, Copilot will also be able to show weather information, images, and information cards with key details for entertainment content.

On supported Samsung Smart TVs and monitors, Copilot will be available from the Apps tab. Users will be able to log in with their Microsoft account to get more personalized answers. The smart TV app is currently available in select markets, and Microsoft and Samsung plan to make it available in additional regions and models over time.

Amazon and Google previously partnered with TV manufacturers to bring dedicated Alexa and Google Assistant buttons to TV remotes, and Microsoft Copilot probably has lower chances of being discovered without such buttons. However, Copilot, which is using OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model, is currently much better at answering complex questions than both Alexa and Google Assistant. That may eventually change if Amazon brings its next-gen Alexa+ assistant to smart TVs. Google is also working on a new Gemini Home assistant to replace its legacy Google Assistant on smart home devices.
