Apple announced today a five-year partnership with Formula 1 to stream F1 races exclusively on Apple TV in the US. Starting next year, the Apple TV app will become the new destination for watching Formula 1 in the country, with select races and practice sessions available to watch for free.

« Apple TV will deliver comprehensive coverage of Formula 1, with all practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix available to Apple TV subscribers, » the company said today. « F1 TV Premium, F1’s own premier content offering, will continue to be available in the U.S. via an Apple TV subscription only and will be free for those who subscribe.

This partnership between Apple and Formula 1 builds on the blockbuster success of the Apple-produced F1 The Movie, which became the highest-grossing sports movie of all time, generating $629 million at the box office. The movie will be available on Apple TV on December 12.

“We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1 and offer Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. front-row access to one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sports on the planet,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services. “2026 marks a transformative new era for Formula 1, from new teams to new regulations and cars with the best drivers in the world, and we look forward to delivering premium and innovative fan-first coverage to our customers in a way that only Apple can.”

In addition to streaming F1 races in the US on the Apple TV app, the company also plans to feature the sport more broadly across its News, Maps, Music, and Fitness+ apps. It’s also already possible to keep track of F1 news within the Apple Sports app for iOS.
