Amazon’s Alexa+ assistant on Fire TV devices can now skip to specific scenes in Prime Video movies just by hearing a description of the action. The new find a scene feature can do its magic by understanding details such as actors in the scene (or characters’ names), what’s happening in the scene, or just by hearing a specific line of dialogue.
“Alexa+ can identify the movie you’re talking about even when you don’t mention the title, and then uses visual understanding and movie captions, processed through Prime Video’s X-Ray, to understand the characters, plot, and action happening in any given scene to determine the specific moment a customer wants to watch on their Fire TV—and does it in seconds,” Amazon explained today.
This scene jump feature currently works with “thousands” of movies available on Prime Video, but only for movies purchased on the platform or those available with a Prime membership. Amazon plans to expand the feature to more movies soon, as well as TV shows.
Alexa+ is currently available in early access in the US and Canada, and it will be free with a Prime subscription once it goes out of beta. Last month, Amazon also integrated its next-gen assistant into its Amazon Music app, where it can help users create personalized playlists or find a specific song just by hearing some details about it.
