Spotify Brings Music Videos to Premium Users in the US and Canada

Spotify is expanding access to music videos to Premium users in the US and Canada. The streaming service first launched music videos in beta in approximately 100 markets last year, and videos are currently supported on TV, desktop, iOS, and Android devices.

While YouTube and YouTube Music both provide access to an immense library of music videos, live concerts, and more for free, Spotify’s video library also includes live and cover videos. These videos can be found under the Music tab on artist profiles.

“This expansion gives millions more listeners access to a catalog of official music videos, from studio versions to live performances and covers. The initial video catalog is limited for now while the feature is in beta, but stay tuned as availability will grow quickly over the coming months,” the company said today.

When playing a supported track, Spotify Premium users will see a “switch to video” button to watch the music clip. The video will pick up right where the song left off, similar to how switching between audio and video works on Google’s YouTube Music app.

Before bringing music videos to its service, Spotify’s big video push first started with podcasts 3 years ago. This is another media category where YouTube is far ahead, but Spotify recently partnered with Netflix to bring some of its video podcasts to the streaming service, and this will start in the US in early 2026.
