Notepad and Paint Add New Features for Insiders

Paint now has a Copilot button/menu

Windows Insiders on the Canary and Dev Channels can start testing a couple of new features in Microsoft’s Notepad and Paint apps. The text editor is getting a new welcome experience and additional Markdown syntax features, while Paint is adding a fill tolerance slider and an AI-powered Coloring book feature.

After installing Notepad version 11.2512.10.0, Insiders will notice new Markdown syntax features, including strikethrough formatting and nested lists. They are accessible from the formatting toolbar and keyboard shortcuts.

Notepad now integrates Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot, and this update should also improve the speed of AI text features, which require to be logged in with a Microsoft account. “Whether generated locally or in the cloud, results for Write, Rewrite, and Summarize will start to appear quicker without the need to wait for the full response, providing a preview sooner that you can interact with,” the Windows Insider team explained.

As for the Paint update, the version 11.2512.191.0 of the app adds a fill tolerance slider that lets users precisely control how the Fill tool applies color. Lastly, Insiders with Copilot+ PCs can also try the new Coloring book feature, which can generate coloring book pages from a text prompt.
