Spotify Makes Song Lyrics More Visible and Downloadable

Spotify has started rolling out a new Lyrics preview feature on mobile that makes lyrics visible right below the album artwork of the song that’s currently playing. Song lyrics are also now available offline for downloaded songs.

“Early testing suggests this new layout makes it easier to engage with lyrics and can help listeners return to songs they discovered,” the Spotify team said about its new lyric previews. The new feature is available for Free and Premium users on iOS and Android, and it can still be turned off by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting “Lyrics Off.”

Spotify says that lyrics are one of its most popular features, with listeners viewing them “hundreds of millions of times each day.” When downloading songs for offline listening with a Premium subscription, song lyrics will now automatically be downloaded as well.

You may not know about it, but Spotify has been offering lyric translations for some songs since 2022. This feature is now availabel worldwide for Free and Premium users, who can access it by tapping the translate icon on the lyrics card.
