1Password is Getting More Expensive

It’s not just Bitwarden: 1Password revealed this week that it will soon raise the price of its password manager.

“Since 2005, 1Password has been on a mission to make security simple, reliable, and accessible for everyone,” an email from 1Password to customers reads. “As the way people work and live online has evolved, so has 1Password.”

As with Bitwarden, 1Password says that its coming price hike was necessitated by all the new features it has added recently. These include automatic saving of logins and payment details, enhanced Watchtower alerts, faster, more secure device setup, AI-powered item naming, expanded recovery options, and proactive phishing prevention.

But whatever the reason, 1Password individual plans are about to get a bit more expensive: The $35.88 per year plan will be $47.88 per year in the U.S. starting with your next renewal. (Which, for me, is in March.) That’s not as serious as the Bitwarden price increase, of course.
