DuckDuckGo announced this morning that Duck.ai now supports more powerful reasoning models like GPT-5 mini or, with a subscription, GPT 5.2.

“Unlike traditional AI models, reasoning models don’t start responding to prompts right away,” DuckDuckGo explains on Reddit. “They restate the problem, explore options, search the web for more information if necessary, and settle on an approach before drafting their response.”

Reasoning models generally provide more accurate responses than traditional AI models. But they also take longer to respond, so this option is hidden behind a toggle. That way you can enable GPT-5 mini, which is free, or GPT 5.2, which requires a subscription, only when needed. You can toggle this option on and off during a conversation, DuckDuckGo notes.

You can learn more–and check out the new reasoning model capabilities–at Duck.ai.
