Google’s new Gemini for Home assistant, which recently launched in early access in Mexico with Spanish support, is starting to roll out in 16 new markets across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. It’s also adding support for 7 new languages along the way.

The list of new supported countries includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. As for the new supported languages, Gemini for Home can now understand Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish.

“It has been a season of rapid iteration, and we’re just getting started,” said Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer, Gemini for Home and Google Home & Nest on LinkedIn. The rollout of Gemini for Home in these new markets starts today, and all users should see an invite to join the early access program in the Google app within a week.

Gemini for Home can be summoned by using the same “Hey Google” command already used to interact with the legacy Google Assistant on smart speakers and displays. However, the more conversational Gemini Live experience, which lets users chat freely with Gemini and ask follow-up questions, requires a Google Home Premium Standard ($9.99 month) subscription. Google Home Premium is also included in the company’s $19.99/month Google AI Pro subscription.

Last month, Google improved its Gemini for Home assistant to make it snappier and better at distinguishing smart home devices such as a “lamp” or a “light.” The assistant also added support for holding temperature presets and more granular controls for home appliances. Lastly, kids with supervised Google Accounts can now use Gemini for Home.
