Stardock Releases a New App, Connection Explorer

Windows utility maker Stardock today announced a new app, Connection Manager, that visualizes network activity.

“The modern desktop is a highly connected device that is uploading and downloading data all day long,” Stardock’s Brad Sams explains. “Our goal was to create an application that allows you to clearly see what is happening with your desktop. With Connection Explorer 1.0, we’re taking that visibility further by adding deeper insights into application
behavior, bandwidth usage, and historical activity so users can better understand their connected footprint.”

Connection Explorer provides an activity timeline that displays a historical view of connections, bandwidth usage, and the number of
applications actively communicating. There’s also per-application bandwidth monitoring so you can identify which apps are consuming resources and how their network activity changes over time, Stardock notes. You can also create activity alerts, block unwanted processes, explore historical connection information, and add notes to DNS
entries.

Connection Explorer 1.0 for Windows 11 will cost $19.99, but it’s available at launch at a discounted price of $15.99, and Object Desktop users get the app for free as part of that suite.
