Meta announced today that its Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets will soon become more expensive due to increased memory costs. The price hikes, which will go from $50 for Quest 3S models to $100 for the Quest 3, will come into effect on April 19, 2026, and they will also affect refurbished models. However, the company claimed that it will still have “the best-value headsets on the market.”
“We’re making this change because the cost of building high-performance VR hardware has risen significantly. The global surge in the price of critical components — specifically memory chips — is impacting almost every category of consumer electronics, including VR. To keep delivering the quality of hardware, software, and support you expect from the Quest platform, we need to adjust our pricing,” the company said today.

Despite some recent layoffs affecting 10% of Meta’s Reality Labs workforce, the company hinted today that new devices are in the pipeline. “Meta remains committed to investing in VR and leading the category because we believe this is the future of computing. We have a long-term roadmap full of new hardware and experiences, and this adjustment helps us stay on track to deliver that future,” Meta said today.
A company spokesperson also told The Verge that the company has no plans to raise the price of its smart glasses in the near future. The company recently announced new prescription-optimized versions of its Meta Ray-Ban Glasses, with prices starting at $499.
