Opera has released a major update to its flagship Opera One web browser on desktop that has some interesting new features for video fans.
“If you’ve been using Opera, you probably know that the browser is packed with built-in tools for multitasking and watching videos across platforms,” Opera’s Santiago Benavides García writes. “With this update we’re adding direct access to YouTube and Twitch to the sidebar and improving some of those existing tools further, bringing three major upgrades designed to give you easy access and complete control over your video, audio, and active tabs.”
Here’s what’s new.
YouTube and Twitch in the sidebar. Now, you can access YouTube and Twitch in the Opera sidebar, so you can watch live streams and videos without having to switch between tabs.
Volume Booster. A new Volume Booster feature lets you increase the volume of audio playback by up to 500 percent. And you can control the volume on a per-tab basis.
Video Popout improvements. This feature lets you watch videos in a picture-in-picture (PIP)-style popout window, and it’s been updated with support for any videoconferencing web app that supports PIP, custom per-site controls, and simpler permissions management.
